Social Worker vs Social Care

Do you know the difference?

A Disability Social Worker is different to the Disability Social Care Team.

Disability Social Worker: helps people to cope with the challenges in their lives, influenced by their disability. They may help with transport, communication aids, housing and employment advice. They may also offer support to enable independent living, including access to support groups and liaising with medical professionals.

Disability Social Care Team: may offer a similar function but on a more personal level. They may help with day to day tasks such as shopping or paying bills, or making sure the recommendations of the social worker are actioned correctly.

Both your social worker and the social care team are there to support you and your family, and are NOT there to take away children or criticise parents.
