In 2021 we were awarded funding from Quartet Community Foundation’s Health and Wellbeing Grant, to support autistic children from 0 – 16 living in Bristol.
We work with families from ethnic minorities for whom English is not their first language to access mainstream services and to get support for their child. We work with services across Bristol to develop their cultural intelligence to enhance the support they provide to families.
We provide support in the following areas:
- Helping autistic children access educational placements and other support provision
- Supporting families with Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP). This includes attending meetings and Annual Reviews and advocating for changes to the care plan to ensure the child’s needs are being met.
- We hold weekly coffee mornings and invite guest speakers from different services across Bristol to speak to parent carers about the support available to them. This is intended to be a supportive environment where it is possible to meet other parents and share experiences.
Families can also drop into our offices in Eastgate Office Centre. This is a safe space for families to get advice from our support workers and discuss concerns they have about their child. If we are unable to help on a particular topic, we can signpost families to other services.
This project ended in November 2023.
